My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This story delivers everything you’d expect from a classic black and white crime noir movie-a gruesome murder, a murky unsolved cold case, and loads of nefarious suspects. However, Lisa Gray’s modern twist is to make her hard-nosed detective a female who suspects she’s been lied to by her late father. As she searches for the truth, she uncovers dangerous secrets, stirs up past motives, and becomes enmeshed in not one, but two unsolved murders. If you loved the old Humphrey Bogart detective films, you’ll enjoy this book.
But you don’t have to take my word for it, Mignon Fogarty aka Grammar Girl recently posted her review. “I usually avoid promoting books that are already getting a lot of attention, but I have to make an exception for “Thin Air.” I bought this thriller Saturday and finished it Sunday because I couldn’t stop reading. The twists and turns and many suspects kept me wanting more. Often, I think authors drag out endings a little longer than they need to, but in this case, I even turned the last (virtual) page feeling satisfied.“
