Crazy Rich Asians Books #2 and #3-Goodreads Review

Fiction: Contemporary Romance
Tone: Occasionally crude, profane language, lush descriptions, and juicy gossip
Take Away: I categorize this series as a guilty pleasure-like watching a soap opera, or the royal family.
How I discovered this series: I wanted to read Crazy Rich Asians before I watched the movie version. (You can see my review of the first book here.) Of course these dishy novels are like potato chips, you can’t stop at just one!

China Rich Girlfriend (Crazy Rich Asians, #2)

China Rich Girlfriend (Crazy Rich Asians #2)
Author: Kevin Kwan

Reading this series is like sitting down and dishing the dirt with your best girlfriends! I couldn’t wait to return to the world of the ultra-rich and experience the next round of drama, backstabbing, jet-setting, and of course, shopping. I especially enjoyed Kitty Pong’s escapades, Rachel’s reunion with her brother, and Astrid’s ongoing marital drama. (I loved Astrid’s story!)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rich People Problems (Crazy Rich Asians, #3)

Rich People Problems (Crazy Rich Asians #3)
Author: Kevin Kwan

The saga continues…designer clothes, romantic secrets, private jets. However when matriarch Su Yi suffers a heart attack, the potential heirs family gathers. The burning question: who will inherit her massive estate? I had to find out. No spoilers, but I thought the answer was both hilarious and satisfying.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Crazy Rich Asians Poster

I also FINALLY got a chance to see the movie. As I mentioned in this post last year, the Seattle Center features a free outdoor series, Movies at the Mural. This summer, one of the movies was Crazy Rich Asians. My review? I enjoyed the movie but it didn’t feel as “gossipy” as the book. I’m glad I read it first!
